Research has shown that retention of new knowledge drops to 60% after just 24 hours! The student (with the support of the parent) should practice their skills at home during the week. Regular home practice is essential for a student's success. I work with all students to develop good practice techniques, making sure that practice is seen as a valuable part of the process of becoming a musician.
Lessons are taught in 30 or 60 minute increments during a student's assigned weekly appointment. Private lessons focus primarily on technique and repertoire as well as musicianship and creative skills.
Recitals and Performances
There are two large recitals scheduled per year, usually in December and June. Students are encouraged (but not required) to perform in these recitals. Additionally, smaller individual and group performances are scheduled throughout the year. (Open mic performances, community performances, etc..)
